Get your dog some exercise at doggie daycare!
The Gemini Dog Blog

We are extremely saddened to announce the passing of our buddy Babalu...he went very unexpectedly; his poor little heart gave out on him, but he will live in our hearts forever.
His death has affected us all in ways that we never imagined. Babalu is the first dog that we have had the privilege of knowing throughout his entire life, from start to finish. He came to us as a puppy, he did his training with us, he got groomed here, we visited him at home to take him for walks, he attended doggie daycare regularly; he was just a true Gemini Dog, through and through.
His daddy says it best, "Although it was too short, I know he had a very happy life, and he brought a lot of joy to (our) lives.
Thank you for having him at your doggie daycare. He truly loved going there; I had to drag him out at night when it was time to go home… I don’t think he would have been the happy, content dog that he was without the proper daycare he got early-on, as a puppy at Gemini."
We will all miss Babalu; he was such a good dog. His time on this earth was way too short, but it was truly a pleasure and a gift to have him in our lives for the few years that we were given. He waits for us now at the Rainbow Bridge with all of the doggies that have gone before him, and he will greet us all one day when it is our time to join him...
Hi there! I'm Indy, a Golden Retriever pup who first came to Gemini Dogs a couple of weeks ago as a student in Puppy Playschool class on Monday nights. I've been having a wonderful time playing with my pals and learning with my new family in the Puppy class, so mommy decided to bring me in for a doggie daycare visit this week. I had my first day on Wednesday.
Mom was a little nervous, but I was a super star! I was very well-behaved and I even ran into some of my old pals from Puppy class; Charlie was there to visit with me and show me the ropes, and I settled right in. I even got a tubby (that's a bath for you human folks) and a little paw trim from Marie while I was here. And do you wanna know the secret behind my beautiful coat? Well, aside from the fact that I'm from a great local breeder, mommy feeds me a raw diet, which is really good for me (and I really love eating it!) Mommy was even able to pick up a new order of Bravo for me that day, too - right here at Gemini Dogs! It's like a little piece of heaven; yummy food, lots of fun playtime, a little brain work, and a little spa time. Ah...this is the life!
This is Chimie, one of our newest Gemini Dogs!
And this is Chimie's buddy, Sweet Dee:
I had the pleasure of meeting Sweet Dee and oh my, she is really sweet! She met Ellie H. during her interview, and they hit it off perfectly. She's super playful, and is a really happy doggie. We're looking forward to seeing them both tomorrow!
Gemini Dogs is very sad to announce the passing of Seattle, a Blue Merle Collie, who attended our doggie daycare once a week with his siblings. Today, we sadly added his name to the "All Dogs Go to Heaven" wall located in the staircase of our training room...
Seattle was a shy and anxious doggie when he first started attending daycare, but as time went by, he became like a happy little puppy when he would run and play with his pals on Thursdays. Our Daycare Manager Marie said, "He really came into his own here. When he first started, he was really anxious, but after he came for a while, we got him to loosen up, and then he would just be so happy when he came in; he would run and play with all of his friends like he was a much younger dog."
Mom said, "You guys made Thursday his favorite day. He always looked forward to it and even though we only had him for two years, they were his golden senior years and well spent...especially Thursdays. Please tell the staff thank you for getting him to come out of his shell."
And I really think that Seattle's mommy said it best when she wrote back to me saying, "I hope there's a Gemini in heaven." We'll miss you, Seattle, but believe me, there is a Gemini in heaven; and you'll meet some great new pals up there...we will see you again soon...
We have some great new dogs and so we just wanted to share some of them with you, so that you can see who your dog is playing with at doggie daycare these days. Many of these dogs have been to doggie daycare and have also stayed overnight with us!

It was Mimi's first day, and she jumped right in and made lots of friends! here she is with Tyler, during her outdoor potty break and playtime.
We have recently made a change to our doggie daycare so that the dogs get twice as much playtime and boy, are they having fun! We had been offering one hour of play, and one hour of rest, on a rotating basis throughout the day...but we decided to mix things up a bit, and we figured we would test out offering an hour-and-a-half of playtime and a half-hour rest period. We have had a lot of folks mention that their dogs are much more tired when they get them home, and they are happy with the fact that we now have a way to allow all of the playgroups to get out at once and have a place for their dogs to play indoors during inclement weather. (That was really the point of this whole process; to reconfigure the daycare so that we had space to play indoors.)
So, has your dog been in this week? What did you think?
This is Truman (and his mommy) and I just wanted to share this photo and explain a little bit about his ribbons here...
Truman started out in my Puppy Playschool class as a youngster and was a little shy, but he came out of his shell eventually and started socializing with his new-found friends. They had some fun romping during those off-leash play sessions in class; so cute!
I noticed right away that his mom had obviously been working with him on the obedience exercises that we practiced in class, and he was just so good with the training; which I attribute to his mom's dedication and patience with him.
After that class was over, I did a little introductory Rally-O lesson with Truman, and he was just so great, and I could tell that he would do well...so he started taking Rally-O class with Kim, and he recently competed in his first APDT Rally-O Trial here at Gemini Dogs.
Kim and I are just so proud of him; he did a great job and as you can see, he qualified in both runs! Congratulations Truman! Love, Michelle
